Hi, I’m Kirsten – private & independent midwife, book lover, ex-NHS midwife and neurodivergent home birthing mum.
I’m the midwife you choose if you know you need more. If you don’t fit the mould, you know there’s more to care than population level guidelines that might not apply to you. You don’t want to leave your care or your birth up to chance. Hoping the birth centre or home birth service are available on the night, and that the midwife looking after you is nice. You don’t want to have 15 minute rushed appointments that barely cover the basics. You don’t want to keep repeating your story every time to new people.
You want a relationship. You need to know who you’re going to see at your next appointment, and who’s going to be there at your birth, no matter the day or time. Someone you get to know and trust. Someone you know won’t try and coerce or convince you to change your plans. Someone who trusts your body, your baby and your birth. And has the skills in case your birth takes an unexpected journey.
I’m the midwife you choose if you know you want midwifery care at your birth, but you might want more options than are available in the NHS.
Maybe you’re a first time mum who’s read the news and thinks ‘no thank you, I don’t like the look of those stats!’. Or you’re a second time mum who knows birth can be better than what you experienced first time round.
And if you choose a home birth, there’ll be no shift changes. No unnecessary interruptions. No wards. I’ll even make you your own tea and toast, tucked up in bed with your baby skin to skin afterwards as I tell you what an incredible job you did.
I’m the midwife you choose if you don’t want to hear ‘you’re not allowed’, ‘that’s not an option’. I specialise in neurodivergent care, VBAC, water birth, home birth and ‘out of guidelines’ care.
